Imax, Cinema City ink Israel deal
European exhibitor orders two new giant screen theatresTORONTO -- European exhibitor Cinema City International on Tuesday inked a deal with Imax Corp. to launch two new giant screen theatres in Israel.
Cinema City also agreed to upgrade eight film-based Imax screens that it already operates with new digital projection technology.
The move follows an earlier digital theatre upgrade in Lodz, Poland.
Cinema City, which operates 69 multiplexes with 677 screens in six European markets, will install the new digital theatres in Israel and upgrade the separate eight theatres by the end of 2011.
