Imax Eyes Expansion in Europe, Africa
The operator of giant movie screens brings in Giovanni Dolci to spearhead its growth ambitions in the two markets.
LONDON – Giant screen movie theater operator Imax Corporation has hired digital cinema expert Giovanni Dolci as vp, theater development for Europe and Africa.
Dolci will be tasked with leading the company's growth and expansion plans across the two regions. He reports to Andrew Cripps, Imax executive vp and president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Imax, listed on the New York stock exchange, aims to profit from Dolci's extensive exhibition contacts across the regions. He joins from London-based Arts Alliance Media, the digital cinema technology facilities company that he had joined in 2002.
He most recently served as the director of sales and business development.
In that role his responsibilities included negotiations with exhibitors and distributors throughout EMEA to support the market's transition to digital projection technology and helping to establish a worldwide digital distribution network.
Prior to joining Arts Alliance Media, Dolci worked as a film finance executive and executive producer with Beach Front Films, a New Zealand-based film production company. There, he was responsible for financing international co-production projects.
Said Cripps: "We look forward to leveraging his [Dolci's] knowledge and extensive relationships within the European exhibition industry to help us seize growth opportunities across major markets in the region."
