He succeeds Phil Groves, who is set to produce his own Imax documentary.
Former 20th Century Fox Film Entertainment distribution exec Craig Dehmel has joined giant-screen exhibitor Imax Corp. to head up film distribution.
Dehmel becomes executive vp and head of global distribution at Imax Entertainment, and senior vp Imax Corp., reporting to Imax Entertainment CEO Greg Foster. In his new role, Dehmel will oversee distribution at Imax for digitally remastered Hollywood movies and original content from across the exhibitor's global network.
He comes to Imax from 20th Century Fox Filmed Entertainment, where Dehmel was executive vp international distribution, managing Fox-distributed titles like Avatar and Ice Age to over 100 markets worldwide.
He succeeds Phil Groves, who will leave Imax on Oct. 1 to produce his documentary, Asteroid Impact, to be financed from the Imax Original Film Fund.
Groves will continue as an Imax consultant, the company said.
