Imax sells two digi theaters to Formula Kino
First theater due in time for 'Deathly Hallows'TORONTO -- Imax Corp. has sold two new digital theaters to Russian exhibitor Formula Kino for marquee mall developments.
Toronto-based Imax said the first theater will go into the Galleria Mall in St. Petersburg, with the second to anchor the Mall of Russia, a five-level entertainment and shopping complex in Moscow.
Formula Kino, a major theater operator in Moscow with 11 cinemas and 61 screens locally, will install the first super-sized screen by November, in time for the theatrical release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."
Imax has installed theaters at both institutional and commercial venues in Russia, most recently last May as part of an agreement with Russian mall developer SBS to install an Imax digital theatrer at a shopping complex in the city of Krasnodar.
And last February, Rising Star Media ordered two more digital theater systems to add to the Russian exhibitor's two existing Imax locations.
