TORONTO -- Giant-screen exhibitor Imax Corp. on Wednesday said it has struck another theater deal in China, this time for a multiplex-based screen in a commercial mall in Nanjing.

Toronto-based Imax said the agreement with Chinese developer Nanjing Deji Plaza Co. will see an Imax screen open in its Nanjing mall, located in China's Jiangsu province, by mid-2010.

Madam Zeng Wenwen, general manager of Nanjing Deji Plaza, said that the Imax theater will anchor the multiplex, and possibly draw "more people out of their homes and into the new Deji Plaza Mall."

The Nanjing Imax theater will be able to screen digitally remastered Hollywood films as well as original Imax 2-D and 3-D films.

The latest deal brings to 25 the number of Imax theaters expected to open in China by 2010.
