IMG Loses Mercedes as New York Fashion Week Sponsor

More info on Fashion Week is rolling in: Not only is New York Fashion Week leaving Lincoln Center after February, but Mercedes-Benz will no longer be the title sponsor of the event. Sources first told The Hollywood Reporter that Mercedes would be leaving the IMG-produced event in November, and now it has been confirmed. While the luxury car brand is leaving the fashion extravaganza in the Big Apple — Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will simply be called "New York Fashion Week" starting in the fall — a rep tells WWD that it still plans on supporting other international fashion weeks.

IMG has also announced that it plans to acquire Made Fashion Week, which launched during the recession to offer free venue space to up-and-coming designers who couldn't afford a spot at Lincoln Center. The Made acquisition is in "final negotiations" and will go into effect before September's Fashion Week. Made owners Keith Baptista, Jenné Lombardo and Mazdack Rassi — who announced their new initiative, Made Music, in October — will remain as consultants.

As for Fashion Week's new location, WWD reports that the runway shows are moving to a not-yet-revealed downtown location in September.
