Indie Rockers British Sea Power Sign Up for Sundance London
LONDON – Indie rockers British Sea Power is the latest music act to sign up to play at this year's Sundance London film and music festival.
The band will hit the stage April 28 to perform their original score composed for From the Sea to the Land Beyond.
The band will be playing live to a screening of the film.
From the Sea to the Land Beyond, directed by Penny Woolcock, is a lyrical portrait of Britain's coastline, created through a combination of archive footage drawn from the BFI National Archive and music.
British Sea Power created an original score that ebbs and flows with the natural sounds of seagulls, ships and snippets of speech.
The work originally aired on BBC4 under the Storyville banner with a Twitter-storm resulting in viewing figures twice the norm for this slot.
British Sea Power are a six-piece band currently based in East Sussex and on the Isle Of Skye in Scotland.
British Sea Power said: "We’re really pleased with the way this film worked out – it was great working with Penny Woolcock. The film has taken us on an incredible journey and this is a rare opportunity to perform live with the film."
The sophomore edition of Sundance London runs April 25-28 2013 at the sprawling 02 venue in London.
It plays host to a host of international and U.K. premieres of US independent films fresh from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, earlier this year as well as live music performances, panels and events.
Sundance Institute, which annually presents the Sundance Film Festival, selected the films and related programming.
Sundance London will also host turns by Peaches and Gregg Allman and John Paul White of The Civil Wars
