Inside Casa Perfect, The New L.A. Design Showroom That Doubles As a Guest Space

Furniture brand The Future Perfect's new outpost on the Sunset Strip doubles as an appointment-only showroom as well as place to crash for New York designers visiting Los Angeles.

Until recently, Angelenos obsessed with The Future Perfect collection of furniture, accessories and lighting had to trek to San Francisco, New York or peruse and purchase its cutting-edge home goods on the Internet. For its Los Angeles expansion, however, Brooklyn-based founder David Alhadeff thought outside the typical retail box and instead set up a by-appointment-only L.A. shop within a classic mid-century post-and-beam, perched high above the Sunset Strip.

Called Casa Perfect, the home-turned-showroom was originally designed by Korean architect David Hyun in 1957 and provides a striking backdrop for the company’s penchant for low-fuss, high-impact pieces. Throughout the 3,000-square-foot space, Alhadeff and his team have positioned Future Perfect finds that represent an all-star cast of artists, including Lindsey Adelman (whose lighting pieces are found in the homes of people such as Reese Witherspoon and Ivanka Trump); L.A.-based Commune Design, who has clients that include studio executive and producer Jamie Tarses and the Ace Hotel and whose bedding, pillows and other pieces are used in almost every room of the house; as well as fashion-editor-turned-jewelry designer, Lisa Eisner, whose solid brass cupboard and drawer handles are found throughout the home.

But make no mistake: This isn’t a fly-by-night popup. “I plan on living here for at least a year,” says Alhadeff, who adds that the four-bedroom spread will also provide a well-appointed landing pad for friends of the brand as well as NY designers coming to the L.A. for clients and shopping trips. “We’ve got Aesop products stocked in the bathrooms and juices in the kitchen. People can stay here while they’re shopping for clients, or bring clients to the house to see our latest. It’s the complete L.A. experience.”
