'Inside Out' to Open Taormina Film Fest
Actress Patricia Arquette is among the international guests of the festival.
The Taormina Film Fest announced Friday in Cannes that it will open with Inside Out, the latest film from Pixar which premieres on the Croisette on Monday.
The film explores emotions at play inside a young girl’s mind. Its all-star cast includes Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Kyle MacLachlan, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, and Diane Lane. It will be released wide in Italy on Sept. 16.
The 61st edition of the Sicilian festival will also see it reinstating its international film jury. Public talks will be offered with guests including Patricia Arquette and Gabriele Salvatores. And special screenings include Jurassic World in 3D and Beyond the Reach.
Asia Argento will serve as master of ceremonies. “To have a woman like her, so strong and courageous, to serve as master of ceremonies at a festival that has always placed special attention on women fills us with pride,” said festival director Tiziana Rocca.
The festival is always host to a number of nightly events and this year is no exception. It will kick off with a Fashion 4 Development event, hosted by Vogue Italy editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani. The organization works to support United Nations millennium development goals by harnessing the power of the fashion industry and finding creating solutions toward building economic growth in developing countries.
Taormina Film Fest runs from June 13 to 20. A special preview event will open in Messina, where the festival started 61 years ago.
