Instagram Co-Founder Kevin Systrom and Nicole Schuetz Wed in Napa
The Silicon Valley power couple opens up about their jazz age-inspired masquerade ball nuptials to Vogue.
Nicole Schuetz, CEO of clean-energy investment firm Sutro, and Kevin Systrom, co-founder and CEO of Instagram, have officially snapped their most Insta-worthy photo yet: their wedding portrait, and Vogue’s got the evidence to prove it.
In the February issue, on stands Jan. 26 (featuring Zoolander co-stars Ben Stiller and Penelope Cruz on the cover), the college sweethearts take readers inside their New Orleans-inspired black-tie masquerade ball in Napa on Oct. 31, envisioned by event designer-to-the-stars Ken Fulk and captured by renowned wedding photographer Jose Villa.
Festivities kicked off during the day with an outdoor ceremony at Beaulieu Vineyard, where the bride walked down the aisle in a gown by Mark Zunino ("decorated with vines and flowers to match the vineyard setting," she tells Vogue) paired with Jimmy Choo wedge heels, while bridesmaids wore floral print dresses in a style of their choice.
The celebrations continued in the evening with a jazz reception in the wine caves of Clos Pegase, which had been transformed into a Victorian-era setting complete with candle-burning chandeliers. Guests wore custom animal masks that had been delivered to their rooms and enjoyed music by Rebirth Brass Band.
The bride wore a pearl-and-sequin bedecked 1920’s-inspired gown by Israeli designer Lihi Hod, in which she, along with her new husband, led guests procession-style onto a tented dance floor ("our hidden nightclub," she says), where pals including Karlie Kloss and her boyfriend, Joshua Kushner, danced the night away while indulging in vintage bourbons from a speakeasy-style bar and Halloween candy, natch.
