'Iron Lady' Meryl Streep to Receive Berlin Golden Bear

The Oscar winner will receive the lifetime achievement award at the 62nd Annual Berlin International Film Festival.
COLOGNE, Germany - Oscar winner and Iron Lady star Meryl Streep will receive a lifetime achievement Golden Bear at this year's Berlin International Film Festival.

"We are delighted to be able to award the Honorary Golden Bear to such a terrific artist and world star. Meryl Streep is a brilliant, versatile performer who moves with ease between dramatic and comedic roles," said Dieter Kosslick, director of the film festival, which runs Feb. 9-19.
Streep will receive her honor at a ceremony in Berlin on Feb. 14, which will be followed by a screening of her latest work The Iron Lady, in which she plays former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The Berlin festival will also screen a homage of Streep's best-known films, among them Kramer vs. Kramer,
Sophie's Choice, Out of Africa and The Bridges of Madison County.
Streep, 62, currently graces the January issue of Vogue as the high-fashion magazine's oldest cover girl ever. She's up for Golden Globe and SAG acting awards for her role as Thatcher, which has also garnered positive reviews from press critics.
