Is Gucci Considering Saint Laurent's Hedi Slimane?
The Italian luxury label may be replacing its creative director with the L.A.-based designer
Now that Frida Giannini and Patrizio di Marco have stepped down from their respective positions as creative director and CEO at Gucci, the Italian fashion house is searching for its replacement, with Saint Laurent's Hedi Slimane being considered for the top post, reports Page Six.
If the rumor is true, it would make sense from a business standpoint, as Slimane has helped sales grow at Saint Laurent, despite the criticism for his designs and rebranding of YSL, while Gucci has seen a decline in sales.
Top candidates also being considered by Kering (parent company of Gucci and Saint Laurent) are Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci, who we hear has been approached for the position, and NY-based designer Joseph Altuzarra.
