This Is How Gigi Hadid Met Joe Jonas
The story behind G.I. Joe involves one rejection plus one mom.
While Periscoping with her fans on Monday night, Gigi Hadid answered the tough questions from her inquiring followers, delving deep into topics like her fashion BFF ("Besides my sister, I would say Kenny"), her favorite book ("Walk Two Moons — it's not very intellectual, but I like the story") and her favorite makeup product ("You guys need to get Maybelline mascara. It's amazing").

But in addition to plugging her latest partnership (did we mention she's the face of Maybelline?), Hadid also spilled all the juicy deets about how she and fellow attractive person Joe Jonas — with whom she was friends for several years before the two started dating — came to meet.
"We met at the Grammys when I was 13 years old," said the supermodel of the middle Jonas brother. "And he asked me to a baseball game, and I said no."

Hadid elaborated, however, that it wasn't a lack of interest that kept her from the Dodgers game date, but rather a mix of nerves and a prior personal commitment that made scheduling a bit difficult.
"I was so nervous; I literally didn’t even know what it meant to hang out with a boy," she confessed. "And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn’t want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, 'No, maybe next time.' "
Yet despite the rejection, the then-19-year-old Jo-Bro didn't give up quite so easily. "I didn’t have my phone with me, and I don’t think he did either because we were at the Grammys, and so he wrote his number on a piece of paper and gave it to my mom."
The rest, said Hadid, is history. "And then we’ve been friends ever since. Except now. We’re more than friends. Obvs."
