This Is How Joanne Froggatt's Makeup Artist Does Golden Globes Weekend
Mai Quynh, who also painted Chloe Grace Moretz and Jessica Pare this weekend, shares her nonstop awards schedule
Friday, Jan. 9
9 a.m. I start at Jessica Pare’s house to get her ready for a luncheon. I wanted to keep her makeup soft and used a nice pinky rose on her lips. You could see her little belly, and she looked really cute.
10:15 a.m. Next I go by my agency office. I wasn’t around over the holidays, and a lot of people sent me products. I fill my car with 10 boxes!
12:30 p.m. I go by a couple artist-gifting suites, one at the SLS Hotel, then to one for Charlotte Tilbury at The London (seen below). I had so much fun playing with the amazing products and talking with Charlotte.
2:30 p.m. Work out at Equinox in Beverly Hills for an hour before racing home to shower and eat something.
5:15 p.m. I’m back at The London to get Joanne Froggatt from Downton Abbey ready for an event. She has these amazing eyelashes; I love using YSL's Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils with Eyeko mascara on her bottom lashes.
7:30 p.m. Home to walk my dog and then dinner — a beer and Thai food from one of my favorites, Si Laa on Robertson — with my boyfriend.
Saturday, Jan. 10
7 a.m. Wake up — I have four jobs today!
8:30 a.m. I get Sasha Pieterse (from Pretty Little Liars and Inherent Vice) ready for the Independent Spirit Awards Nominee Brunch. She has her two puppies with her, and we get started a little late because we’re playing with them.
9:45 a.m. I then race over to The London again to get Jo [Froggatt] ready for the BAFTA Tea Party. We did peachy, golden makeup to match accents in her jumper.
11:40 a.m. I’m so excited that I have time to go to Beverly Hills Juice Club. I get an Apple Lemon Triple Ginger Banana Manna Almond Smoothie — it’s my lunch.
1 p.m. I meet Chloe Grace Moretz at Andy Lecompte Salo, where she’s getting her hair done. We do a smoky-gray eye to go with the red-and-black suit she’s wearing to an event honoring Julianne Moore, who she was in Carrie with.
2:15 p.m. I drive up the I-5 to do Maggie Q’s makeup for a campaign she’s shooting.
6:15 p.m. I’m deliriously hungry and craving chicken from Fred Segal, only to find out it closed at 6 p.m. I get a salad and scarf it in my car. At home I walk my dog, shower and spend hours going through all my boxes of products, adding things from Kevyn Aucoin, Elizabeth Arden and Dior to my kit.
Sunday, Jan. 11
9 a.m. I wake up, walk the dog and have some yogurt before stopping for an almond latte at Dialog Cafe on my way to The London — again!
10:30 a.m. For the Golden Globes, Jo [Froggatt] is wearing a navy strapless Marchesa gown with embroidery and crystals, so we do a soft pink lip, pink cheeks and plummy-gold eyes with a black-wing liner and lots of lashes. Ashley Streicher does her hair up, because today is gloomy, and Brad Goreski styles her.
6 p.m. I tune in to the Golden Globes before heading to the Forum to see Louis C.K. do his stand-up show.
