Isabelle Huppert to Head Marrakech International Film Festival Jury
The French actress will preside over the 14th edition
Isabelle Huppert will serve as President of the Jury of the 14th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival. The French actress is not only one of the most in-demand actresses for global auteurs, but she also has a fair amount of jury experience, last presiding over the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.
“I am delighted to accept the invitation of the Marrakech International Film Festival to preside over the 14th edition,” said Huppert. “For this occasion, I will take great pleasure in meeting the Moroccan audiences, and sharing their curiosity, enthusiasm and thirst to discover films from around the world – the way the festival has in its previous selections.”
Huppert has worked with most of France’s top directors including Olivier Assayas, Claude Chabrol, Jacques Doillon, Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Ozon, Maurice Pialat and Benoit Jacquot. She’s a regular at Cannes, where she’s taken home two best actress awards, for Chabrol’s Violette and Michael Haneke’s The Piano Teacher.
She has also collaborated with many Asian directors including Rithy Panh, Brillante Mendoza and Hong Sangsoo. She will appear in the upcoming films The Valley of Love by Guillaume Nicloux with Gerard Depardieu, and Joachim Trier’s Louder Than Bombs with Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Ryan, and Gabriel Byrne.
Last year Martin Scorsese served as President of the Jury. Marrakech International Film Festival takes place from Dec. 5-13.
