U.K.'s ITV News Names Channel 5 Exec Geoff Hill Editor
The CNN International and ITN veteran takes the position recently left open when Deborah Turness became president of NBC News.
LONDON – ITV said Tuesday that it has picked former CNN International and Channel 5 executive Geoff Hill as the new editor of ITV News.
He will be responsible for all of ITV’s national news programs, ITV News London, live specials and documentaries for ITV, online news and more.
Hill most recently served as editor of Channel 5 News. His appointment follows the recent departure of Deborah Turness who is now president of NBC News.

John Hardie, CEO of ITN, the news joint venture of ITV and several other companies that provides content for ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and online and mobile outlets, said: “Geoff stood out in an incredibly high-caliber field of candidates, because he has a fantastic track record as a first-rate journalist, program-maker and excellent leader."
Hill has more than 20 years of journalism and TV news experience. Before his job at Channel 5 News, which he started in late 2011.
Before that, he was at CNN International as director of coverage focused on Europe, the Middle East and Africa. During that time, he oversaw CNN's coverage of the Amanda Knox trial in Perugia, as well as the royal wedding.
Prior to CNN, Hill worked for ITN for nearly a decade in various positions, ultimately serving as program editor, with responsibility for the flagship News at Ten show. He went on to launch and run 24-hour sports news channel Setanta Sports News as editor-in-chief.
