ITV takes a Shine to 'Biggest Loser'<br />
Prepping series for daytime program run
LONDON -- ITV has commissioned Shine Prods. to produce lifestyle show "The Biggest Loser" for its daytime program run, it was announced Thursday.
Currently a primetime show in the U.K. for cable channel LivingTV and a format in 25 countries, the ShineReveille International-distributed series features overweight contestants living together and follows their diet and exercise struggles to shed excess pounds.
Based on the ShineReveille format that aired on NBC, "Britain's Biggest Loser" will be a daily stripped format for ITV, controller of daytime Adam McDonald said.
"The phrase 'life-changing show' is overused in telly, but this compassionate, compelling format does just that," he said.
Exec produced by McDonald and by ShineReveille's Karen Smith and Sarah Brailsford, the show is expected on air next year.
Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine Prods. acquired Ben Silverman's Reveille Prods. in February.
