The president's daughter and son-in-law aren't expected to speak in any formal capacity at the gathering.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are headed to Sun Valley, Idaho, to hobnob with many of the moguls who run the media companies that President Donald Trump says have been so hostile to him.

Attendees at this year's very exclusive Allen & Co. summit, which started Tuesday and runs through Thursday, were expected to mix business with politics, but with members of the first family in attendance, the latter could take center stage.

The president's daughter and son-in-law aren't expected to speak in any formal capacity at the gathering, just mingle with the other guests, who include CBS chief executive Les Moonves and Time Warner CEO Jeffrey Bewkes. They are expected to pay for their own travel and accommodation expenses.

If the pair run into Bewkes, it could lead to an especially interesting conversation, given President Trump has engaged in a feud with CNN, which is owned by Time Warner. Also, Trump isn't thrilled with the idea of Time Warner merging with AT&T, an $85 billion deal that still needs regulatory approval.

The pair's visit to Sun Valley also coincides with Ivanka's brother, Donald Jr., dominating the news cycle at CNN and elsewhere after he acknowledged meeting with a Russian attorney claiming she had damaging information about Hillary Clinton last summer during the presidential campaign.

The annual Allen & Co. Sun Valley Conference is off-the-record, but journalists are often seen hanging around the private venue, snapping photos and hoping for an on-the-record interview with an attendee who can tell them what's afoot behind the gates.

This year's guests also include Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Viacom CEO Bob Bakish and Rupert, James and Lachlan Murdoch of 21st Century Fox. Inside, the attendees will hear speeches and panel discussions about business, politics and technology, and they will spend their recreational time whitewater rafting, golfing, bicycling and more.

Allen & Co. is a private investment firm founded in 1922 and located in New York and London. Some of its current and former clients include Google, Facebook, Time Warner, AOL, Verizon and Activision Blizzard.
