Jack Reynor Signs Up For Gerard Barrett's 'Glassland'
Reynor, seen next in "Transformers: Age of Extinction," will star alongside Toni Colette, Will Poulter and Michael Smiley in Gerard Barrett's second film.
LONDON -- Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) has signed up to star alongside Toni Colette, Will Poulter and Michael Smiley in Gerard Barrett's sophomore feature, Glassland.
Barrett's movie details the story of a young taxi driver (Reynor) who gets tangled up in the world of human trafficking while trying to save his mother (Collette) from addiction.
The shoot is due to get underway on Jan. 8 in Dublin from the Irish production banner Element Pictures.
Writer-director Barrett won the 2013 Irish Film and Television Awards Rising Star award for his debut feature Pilgrim Hill, which he also produced and edited.
Ed Guiney and Juliette Bonass are producers for Element Pictures in association with Nine Entertainment. Finance comes from the Irish Film Board and Element Pictures. The executive producer is Andrew Lowe.
Glassland will reunite Reynor with Guiney after he produced Lenny Abrahamson's What Richard Did, starring the Transformers: Age of Extinction actor.
Barrett said he was "incredibly privileged" to be working with a quality cast for his second feature. "I look forward to collaborating with them all individually in bringing our story to life on the screen," he said.
Guiney described Barrett's first movie, Pilgrim Hill, as "undoubtedly one of the most impressive debut films we have seen in a very long time. He is an amazing filmmaker and a brilliant new voice."
