"My thanks to Meryl Streep and Harrison Ford for laughing at my jokes last year, and making BAFTA LA believe that I am suited to do this a second time," said Whitehall.

Jack Whitehall will return as the host of the 2016 British Academy Britannia Awards.

"My thanks to Meryl Streep and Harrison Ford for laughing at my jokes last year, and making BAFTA LA believe that I am suited to do this a second time,” the English comedian, who hosted last year's ceremony, joked Tuesday in a statement.

“Jack’s performance as host last year was one of the most memorable aspects of an already spectacular evening,” said BAFTA Los Angeles chairman Kieran Breen.

Whitehall is known for the British TV series Fresh Meat and Bad Education. Stateside, he recently appeared alongside Julia Roberts in Gary Marshall's Mother's Day.

As previously announced, Ang Lee will be awarded the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing at the gala, which is set to take place Oct. 28 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
