Specials, miniseries among weekend programming

Farrah Fawcett dies at 62

Networks continue to put together tributes to Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, with several new and returning specials scheduled to hit the airwaves this weekend and beyond.

E! has announced several programs, starting with "True Hollywood Story: Michael Jackson" running several times Friday and this weekend. "E! News Special: Michael & Farrah: Lost Icons" will premiere Saturday at 10:30 a.m. And "E! Special: Michael Jackson" debuts July 1 at 10 p.m. and is billed as a definitive documentary produced with cooperation from Sony and the Jackson organization.

On Friday, ABC News will broadcast a special edition of "20/20," "Michael Jackson: The Man and His Music" at 9 p.m. Anchored by Elizabeth Vargas, the special will trace Jackson's career.

MTV is airing nonstop Jackson music videos, performances and footage from the MTV vaults that the network said has not been seen in years, Friday until 6 p.m. The network that helped make Jackson a superstar is peppering the coverage with messages and call-ins from celebrities inspired by the legendary artist. At 7 p.m. Friday night, the network will re-air an encore presentation of "Randy Jackson's: America's Best Dance Crew" that featured Jackson's classics.

Bio Channel announced they will air "Bio Remembers: Michael Jackson" on Saturday night at 10 p.m., as well as "Bio Remembers: Farrah Fawcett" on Monday at 10 p.m.

Sunday's annual BET Awards will be filled with tributes to Jackson. Hosted by Jamie Foxx, the show airs live at 8 p.m.

Fox will air an encore of the two-hour Jackson-themed episode of "American Idol" on Monday night at 8 p.m.. The episode was from last season, with the top 13 contestants performing.

CNN has "Michael Jackson -- Man in the Mirror," a one-hour doc reported by Don Lemon that will air several times this weekend.

MyNetworkTV will present an encore airing of the 2006 World Music Awards, which featured one of Jackson's last televised performances. That's on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

TV Land will air the 1992 five-hour miniseries "The Jacksons: An American Dream," on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. The network will also air the first two episodes of its original reality series "Chasing Farrah" on Saturday at 7 p.m.

"Airing these tributes allows our viewers to remember and understand the legacies that will continue into the future" said Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. "We invite our audience to remember where they were the first time they heard the Jackson 5 singing 'ABC,' saw the iconic 'Thriller' music video or witnessed history when they heard the angels call 'Charlie' for the first time. They will both be missed terribly by all."
