James Corden Joins 'Late Late Show' Co-Producer Fulwell 73 as Fifth Partner
The host has been considered the growing U.K. production company's unofficial partner for years.
He was already regarded as the company's "unofficial fifth partner," but now James Corden has put pen to paper and made his relationship with The Late Late Show and Carpool Karaoke co-producer Fulwell 73 official.
In an announcement made Tuesday, the TV host has added his name as "fifth full partner" at the growing U.K.-based banner, joining founding members Gabe Turner, Ben Turner, Ben Winston and Leo Pearlman, with immediate effect.
"Gabe, Ben, Ben and I formed this company nearly 10 years ago and have all worked incredibly hard to build a business we are proud of, a business that tries to do things a little differently to the rest of the industry," said Pearlman. "To date we've been fiercely protective of Fulwell and never really considered the interest that has come our way from potential partners and investors. And yet James joining as the fifth partner feels like the most natural and obvious step for all of us."
Corden's relationship with Fulwell dates back to the early 2000s, when he was a young actor on the U.K. show Teachers. It was there that he met Winston, then a runner, and as their careers took off, the two would work together on various projects, notably a Comic Relief film with the England soccer team that became a viral sensation. Fulwell 73 would later produce Corden's World Cup Live on ITV, and Winston went with Corden to L.A. in 2015 to become showrunner on The Late Late Show.
"He has been a good friend, key creative influence and talent we have turned to time and time again, and the chance to formalize our relationship with him was a chance too good to pass up," added Pearlman. "We all believe Fulwell to be a far greater company with his involvement and look forward to many years of working with him in the future."
Aside from The Late Late Show, Fulwell 73 has been behind a growing catalog of acclaimed sports documentaries, most notably Class of '92, starring David Beckham, and the recent Usain Bolt film I Am Bolt. The company has also been behind several music videos, including a number from One Direction.
"In many ways I've felt like an unofficial partner for many years, and now that it's official I feel incredibly proud to have joined this incredible company," said Corden. "In Gabe, Ben, Leo and Ben, I feel I'm working with the most vibrant, passionate, talented directors and producers I've ever met. Watching Fulwell 73 have such phenomenal growth over the past decade has been inspiring to watch. I feel lucky and proud to be part of it, and I'm excited to see what we can achieve together."
