James finds a new outlet at Col's 'Mall'
EmptyKevin James is walking the mall beat.
The actor is set to write and star in the Columbia comedy "Mall Cop," presidents of production Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach said Tuesday.
James will play a mild-mannered security guard who patrols a mall that's taken over by highly organized thieves.
"Mall Cop" reteams James with Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison Prods., which is producing the comedy. James, Jeff Sussman and Todd Garner also are producers.
James and Sandler worked together in this summer's "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry," also produced by Happy Madison.
James is writing the screenplay with Nick Bakay. Sam Dickerman will oversee the project for Columbia.
The movie also reunites James with Sony, where he starred on the TV side in the long-running sitcom "The King of Queens" and co-starred with Will Smith in the film "Hitch."
James is represented by Endeavor, Jeff Sussman Management and Schreck Rose Dapello & Adams in New York.
