The Natalie Portman-starring Western moves to September

Relativity has pushed the release date for Western Jane Got a Gun once again.

The film, starring Natalie Portman, has been moved nearly seven months, from Feb. 20 to Sept. 4, 2015. Relativity recently dated Jason Blum's Lazarus for the Super Bowl weekend of Feb. 20, so moving Jane Got a Gun avoids the Western facing off against the modern-day take on Frankenstein.

Filmed in March 2013, Jane Got a Gun was first slated to be released on Aug. 29, 2014, but Relativity pushed it to Feb. 20, 2015, in April.

Gavin O'Connor directed the Western, which stars Portman as Jane Hammond, who has built a new life with her husband Bill "Ham" Hammond (Noah Emmerich) after being tormented by an ultraviolent outlaw gang called the Bishop Boys. But she finds herself in the gang’s crosshairs once again.

Jane, which also stars Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton, made headlines as filming began when director Lynne Ramsay dropped out and the project underwent numerous casting changes as Michael Fassbender left, and Jude Law and Bradley Cooper both joined the project before also dropping out.

Edgerton took over the role vacated by Fassbender, while McGregor took on the villain character Law and Cooper were both hired to play.

Relativity and TWC teamed up to handle U.S. distribution for Jane Got a Gun, which will face off against Sony's comedy-horror film Kitchen Sink on its new date.
