Jane March to Get Second Chinese 'Lover' in 'Perfect Baby'
'The Lover' star returns to her acting roots in a cross-cultural relationship story.
BEIJING -- Actress and former model Jane March will once again have a cinematic Chinese love interest when she stars in Perfect Baby, a Sino-French co-production due out in August.
March starred in a 1992 film adaptation of Marguerite Duras' novel The Lover, in which she played the teenage paramour of the title character, a middle-aged Chinese man portrayed by Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka-fai. She later starred alongside Bruce Willis in Color of Night.
In Perfect Baby, March stars as a poet who has a relationship with a Chinese man, played by Deng Chao, who appeared in the Andy Lau-starrer Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame last year, directed by Tsui Hark. The film is set for an Aug. 6 release to coincide with Chinese Valentine's Day, according to English-language newspaper China Daily.
