Lili Taylor and Celia Weston have also been cast in Roundabout Theatre Company's summer production of the comedy-drama by Scott McPherson.

Janeane Garofalo, Lili Taylor and Celia Weston are the first names to be cast in Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming Broadway premiere of the 1990 Scott McPherson play Marvin's Room.

Anne Kaufman will direct the comedy-drama about the tricky ties of family, an award-winning off-Broadway hit in 1991-92. It was adapted into a 1996 film that starred Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Hume Cronyn and Gwen Verdon.

Making her Broadway debut, Garofalo will play Lee, the single mother of a troubled teenage son and estranged sister of Bessie (Taylor), who has single-handedly taken care of their bedridden father and dotty Aunt Ruth (Weston) for almost 20 years. The sisters are reunited when Bessie is diagnosed with leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant.

The production will begin previews June 8 at the American Airlines Theatre, with an official opening set for June 29. The limited engagement is scheduled to run through Aug. 27.

Taylor was last seen on Broadway in a 1997 Roundabout production of Chekhov's Three Sisters, while veteran actress Weston's most recent Broadway role was in a 2000 revival of Sam Shepard's True West that starred Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly.

Marvin's Room also will mark the Broadway directing debut for acclaimed off-Broadway regular Kauffman, with additional cast to be announced. Roundabout is presenting the play in association with David Binder and Sharon Karmazin.
