Tom Hanks' Mother Dies at 84: "She Was the Difference in Many Lives"
"This wonderful lady gave birth to my husband, and three other children. Thank you for bringing my love into the world," actress Rita Wilson wrote.
Tom Hanks' mother, Janet Frager, died Tuesday, the actor announced through social media. She was 84.
In a message on Twitter and Instagram, the two-time Oscar winner posted a picture of his mother in her youth along with the comment, "This beauty? My mom. She was the difference in many lives. Many lives. We say goodbye to her today. Safe crossing, mom!”
Hanks, who turned 60 on Saturday, later posted another picture to social media of a movie theater in Red Bluff, Calif., writing, “Saw many movies here with our Mom. Thanks for all who came to see her off."
Hanks’ wife, actress Rita Wilson, also paid tribute to her mother-in-law by sharing a message through social media. On Instagram, Wilson posted a picture of Hanks and Frager, writing, "This wonderful lady gave birth to my husband, and three other children. Thank you for bringing my love into the world. She is at peace now."
