Japan, Australia play ball with MLB

Dentsu becomes longest-running MLB international partner

BEIJING -- Major League Baseball has made Japan's Dentsu its longest-standing international partner with a new contract that runs through 2015, and added Australia as a new market, MLB said Monday.

Dentsu will sublicense both television and radio broadcasts to Japan Broadcasting Corp., Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Fuji Television Network, TV Asahi, TV Tokyo and J Sports Broadcasting, MLB said. It did not disclose financial terms for this or its other international agreements.

Australia's Network Ten will at least three live, regular-season games per week, along with the review show "This Week in Baseball" and postseason games on One, Ten's digital sports network.

MLB also renewed broadcast agreements in other international markets, including Canada and Venezuela.
