Jay-Z Plans Philadelphia Music Festival
The "Empire State of Mind" rapper is curating a Budweiser-sponsored event over Labor Day weekend featuring 28 acts from a variety of musical genres.
Despite his predilection for the Big Apple, Jay-Z is taking a bite out of another city this summer.

On Monday, the rapper revealed plans to mount a two-day music festival Sept. 1 and 2 in Philadelphia, featuring performers from a variety of genres. Speaking from atop the city’s art museum steps, which were made famous by Rocky, Jay-Z joined Mayor Michael Nutter to announce the Budweiser Made in America festival, which will benefit United Way Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
Although Jay-Z did not list who (or who else) would be playing the festival, he revealed that nearly 30 acts will perform, and 70 percent of those acts have already been confirmed. The performers, which include rap, rock, R&B, Latin and dance acts, will be split across three stages at Fairmount Park.
Enthusiastic fans attended the announcement, chanting the rapper’s name. After one of them yelled out that he was the best, Jay-Z responded in predictably humble fashion, “I agree."
