J.C. Chandor's 'A Most Violent Year' Gets New Trailer and a Release Date

"A Most Violent Year"

Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain star

A24 has announced a release date for J.C. Chandor's film A Most Violent Year, setting up the drama to hit theaters just under the wire for an awards qualifying run.

The film from the All Is Lost director will hit theaters in New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 31 and then expand nationally throughout Jan. 2015. A24 also released a new teaser trailer and poster (see below) for the film, which stars Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain and Albert Brooks.

Set in New York City during the winter of 1981 (statistically one of the most violent years in the city’s history), the film follows the lives of an immigrant and his family trying to expand their business as corruption and violence threaten to destroy them.

Before the Doors’ Neal Dodson and Washington Square Films’ Anna Gerb produced the film while Participant's Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King, Joshua Blum and Glen Basner of FilmNation Entertainment executive produced.

A24 picked up U.S. distribution rights to the Participant Media film in January, eyeing a fall release.
