'Voice' Creator Reacts to Jenni Rivera's Death
"Even from this distance, the tragic death of Jenni Rivera turns today into a very sad Monday in December," said Dutch media tycoon John De Mol.
The loss of Jenni Rivera -- the popular Mexican-American singer, reality TV star and coach on The Voice Mexico who died Sunday in a plane crash in northern Mexico -- is being mourned around the world, and now the creator of The Voice also is sharing his condolences.

John De Mol, the Dutch media tycoon who founded Talpa Media and launched The Voice franchise in Holland that was sold to other countries throughout the world, has released a statement after hearing about the death of Rivera.
“Even from this distance, the tragic death of Jenni Rivera turns today into a very sad Monday in December,” he said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“At Talpa, we felt extremely honored by having Ms. Rivera as a coach with La Voz in Mexico and, as such, a member of the Voice family,” he added. “Our thoughts are with Jenni Rivera's relatives and friends.”

Rivera, who joined the second season of the reality singing competition as a music coach, died Dec. 9 with six others in a plane crash near Monterrey, Mexico, while en route to Mexico City. She was 43.
Sunday night's semifinal episode of The Voice Mexico was postponed. Network Televisa aired a special on the singer instead. The show will "resume with its regular transmission" on Sunday, according to Televisa.
Rivera was one of the most successful singers on the Latin charts and also had her own reality show, I Love Jenni, on cable network mun2.
