Jennifer Coolidge, Megan Mullally Join 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day'
Megan Mullally and Jennifer Coolidge have joined the cast of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day as production kicks off in Los Angeles.
Disney announced that the live-action adaptation of Judith Viorst’s 1972 illustrated children’s book had begun production and will shoot entirely in the Los Angeles area, including the cities of Pasadena and Arcadia, the San Fernando Valley and Melody Ranch in Newhall.
Directed by Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Cedar Rapids) from a script by Rob Lieber, the film is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production, starring Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner as the parents of Alexander (Ed Oxenbould in his feature film debut). It follows 11-year-old Alexander on a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, and gets worse from there.
Jim Henson Co. CEO Lisa Henson, along with 21 Laps' Shawn Levy and Dan Levine, will produce the pic, with Philip Steuer and Jason Lust executive producing.
Mullally, who starred on TV comedy Will & Grace, recently appeared in The Kings of Summer and TV's Web Therapy and Happy Endings. She's repped by UTA and ICM Partners.
Coolidge, known for playing Stifler's mom in the American Pie franchise, recently appeared in Austenland. She's repped by UTA and The Schiff Company.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day will open in theaters on Oct. 10, 2014.
