Jennifer Lopez and Giuseppe Zanotti Are Designing Shoes Together
And handbags, too!
Giuseppe Zanotti held out for a superstar for his first-ever celebrity collaboration. The prolific shoe designer, whose designs are not only standouts on the red carpet, but also on the stage, tapped none other than Jennifer Lopez for a capsule collection ($795 to $1,995) which will retail at Saks, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman and Giuseppe Zanotti stores.
According to WWD, the collection — called Giuseppe for Jennifer Lopez — is set to debut in January 2017. Currently, the pair have devised about 18 different styles and considered the possibility of handbags, too. "I was not prepared to do bags, but it’s OK," Zanotti told the trade of Lopez's proposal to create a purse to match a specific heel.
Early press photos give fans a sneak peak of a knee-high, gladiator style with a snakeskin print, as well as a glimpse of a bedazzled front-lacing stiletto. However for those not performing in front of thousands at a Vegas residency or walking the red carpet this awards season, there are also more tame options for everyday wear, including suede pumps in Lopez's favorite hues: dusty pink, ice blue and black.
The singer, actress and producer, who turned 47 over the weekend (yes, 47), is no stranger to the fashion and design side of the industry. Under a licensing deal with Coty, Lopez has launched more than 18 fragrances; she also has a fashion and home decor line for Kohl's and a jewelry collection for Endless. The woman doesn't mess around.
As for her shoe collaboration, Lopez may have taken a cue from fellow diva superstar Rihanna, who launched her collection with Manolo Blahnik earlier this year that included those "9-to-5" boots that gave "thigh-high" a whole new meaning, thanks to a belt which held them in place around the waist. RiRi even gifted a pair of the denim and crystal covered kicks to JLo, who then appeared (and danced) in them for her "Ain't Your Mama" music video. Fingers crossed that Lopez will return the favor should RiRi be looking for her next music video ensemble.
