Scoring Big: CFDA Partners With New York Mets; Nike Air Force 1 Jeremy Lin Quickstrikes
CFDA designers reimagine Mets fan apparel for 50th anniversary; limited-edition Nike sneakers inspired by Jeremy Lin for sale despite uncommitted team status.
It’s a good day to be a style-conscious sports fan in New York.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America and the New York Mets have teamed up to launch a limited-edition apparel line to honor each of their 50th anniversaries. CFDA member designers Billy Reid, Yigal Azrouël, Scott Hahn and Rogan Gregory of Loomstate, and Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos of Shipley & Halmos have all created commemorative pieces for Mets fans.

Ranging from $60 to $125, the 7-piece collection of blue and orange tees, tanks and track jackets will be sold at Citi Field as well as online at Edition01, an online luxury collaboration boutique, beginning July 24. Net proceeds will benefit both the CFDA and the Mets Foundation.
Additionally, the Mets will host CFDA members at the stadium that evening, as the team steps up to the plate against the Washington Nationals.

Across town, Nike hopes to satiate the insane fan frenzy that surrounds Jeremy Lin, the currently undrafted point guard who set records with the New York Knicks this past season. Though the Harvard grad has yet to formally sign with a team, Nike's limited edition Air Force 1 “Jeremy Lin” sneakers give full-fledged Knicks allegiance. Bright orange threads outline chambray panels, with Lin’s initials and signature decorating each insole.
Pairs of Nike Air Force Jeremy Lin will be available at select retailers only, including Millennium Shoes and House of Hoops by Foot Locker.
