'Jersey Shore's' Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino Speaks Out on 'Prescription Medication Problem'
The reality star has released an official statement regarding his current stint in rehab.
Jersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is speaking out on his recent stint in rehab, acknowledging a problem with prescription pills.
The reality star took to his Facebook page one day after a representative had confirmed reports that he had entered an inpatient treatment program. At the time, the rep declined to confirm whether Sorrentino was battling substance abuse problems.

“I want to set the record straight,” Sorrentino said in a statement. “I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule.”
“I appreciate my fans support and love you guys,” he added.
The news comes just days after MTV announced the renewal of their hit reality series. All six cast members, including a pregnant Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, are signed on to return for the next season.

“We have no comment about Mike but fully expect and are looking forward to the entire cast returning for a sixth season,” a representative from MTV told The Hollywood Reporter.
Fans and various media outlets had speculated that Sorrentino was acting particularly erratic during the fifth season of Jersey Shore, particularly during a recent camping episode, in which he appeared to be extremely paranoid.
Jersey Shore is expected to begin shooting its sixth season this summer.
