"I think it would be a lot of fun,” she says. “It's definitely my life.”
Jessica Simpson has confirmed Internet reports that she has been approached for a judging position on Simon Cowell’s upcoming Fox singing competition show The X Factor. “They have definitely talked to me about X Factor,” she tells Women’s Wear Daily. “I think it would be a lot of fun. It’s definitely my life. To be a mentor for up-and-coming artists is right up my alley. I would have loved to have a mentor. I love watching people’s dreams come true.” The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Cowell has snapped up L.A. Reid, former chairman of Island Def Jam, as his first judge. “Even though a lot of people won't know who he is, he is actually a fascinating guy and I think a lot of people will like the fact that they're discovering him on the show,” Cowell recently told the Huffington Post of Reid. As for casting the other judges – former American Idol judge Paula Abdul and George Michael have all been rumored additions — Cowell said it’s been “an interesting process.” At the end of the day, Cowell told HP, “you trust your gut feeling to put together a panel that's going to work, and the most important thing is, people will decide, once they watch the show, whether we've made the right decision or the wrong decision.” The other judges are expected to be announced within the next few weeks. The X Factor debuts on Fox in September.
