Jessie J Joins 'Finding Neverland' Concept Album
The "Sweet Talker" can fly
Jessie J is recording a song for the Finding Neverland Broadway musical's concept album, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The track is called "Stronger," which producer Harvey Weinstein has dedicated to the people of Boston. Page Six first reported the news.
The musical adaptation of the 2004 film follows Peter Pan playwright J. M. Barrie and the story of his friendship with a woman and four fatherless children who inspired his classic tale about the boy who refused to grow up. The Miramax film starred Johnny Depp as the author opposite Kate Winslet. It grossed $116 million worldwide and was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
The album will also feature Jennifer Hudson, who performed "Never Neverland" at the Tony Awards in June. Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift are among the names rumored to appear on the project.
Finding Neverland will begin performances on the Great White Way in March. The production's current run at the American Repertory Theater in Boston has broken attendance records for a single production in the theater's 34-year history, with all performances playing to capacity crowds. The production, starring Jeremy Jordan and Laura Michelle Kelly, is running at the Loeb Drama Center on through Sept. 28.
Jessie J's latest gig follows her awards show performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, singing "Bang Bang" alongside Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. After the performance, her singles catalog jumped 114 percent. Her third studio album, Sweet Talker, will hit U.S. shelves on Oct. 14.
