Jill and Jessa Duggar Talk Molestation Scandal in Promo for New TLC Special: "We Will Come Out of this Fire Stronger"
The '19 Kids and Counting' sisters return to the network in the three-part special, 'Counting On,' which chronicles their lives as they move on from the sexual abuse scandal involving their brother.
In a new promo for their new TLC special Counting On, Jill and Jessa Duggar recall what they felt when it was revealed last spring that their brother Josh molested them and three other girls when he was a teenager.
"Here I am, most joyful time of my life, newly married, baby on the way, and then —" Jessa Duggar says of the time when the scandal erupted. "The whole world was shocked. … You have to wonder, like 'How did this happen?' "
"I cried a lot of tears. I still do," a tearful Jill adds before saying, "but we will come out of this fire stronger as a family unit."
The three-part special, Jill and Jessa: Counting On chronicles the lives of the Duggar sisters as they move on from the scandal that shook their family, the subject of TLC series 19 Kids and Counting.
19 Kids and Counting was subsequently canceled, but the Duggar sisters and their mother, Michelle, have already returned to TLC once before in Breaking the Silence, a special about sexual abuse. In that special, the women didn’t mention Josh at all by name and were joined by several other survivors who shared stories to raise awareness about the issue.
