Jim Carrey Lists Malibu Colony House for $13.95 Million
The "Mr. Popper's Penguins" star is selling his oceanfront property, which he has owned for ten years.
Actor Jim Carrey recently listed his Malibu oceanfront property for a $13.95 million. Carrey acquired the house in 2002 for $9.75 million.
The contemporary house was built in 1957 and is located in the private gated Malibu Colony, which is home to Tom Hanks, Jason Statham, Brian Grazer and Leonardo DiCaprio. At 2,866 square feet, the house has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, (five full, one partial) hardwood floors and a rooftop viewing deck with spa. The ocean-view master suite is located on the second floor and includes a fireplace, a balcony, and walk-in closet. The property also features an outdoor entertainment area that includes a barbecue and surf board racks. There is even a bed-and-bath suite for staff, plus a rooftop deck with a spa.
Carrey — who next stars in the 2013 New Line release The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, about a Las Vegas magician -- has several other properties, including two in Brentwood. He has been reportedly apartment hunting in Manhattan, according to the RealEstalker. He is also reportedly developing a sequel to his 1994 hit Dumb and Dumber.
The actor isn't the only one selling in the Colony. Earlier this year, producer Brian Grazer relisted a 6,000-sqare-foot five-bedroom beachfront house there for $17.5 million, according to Los Angeles Blockshopper, at a $2 million price chop. It was first listed in May 2011 for $19.5 million and taken off the market at the end of last year. He paid $13.5 million for it in 2003.
Sotheby’s International Realty in Pacific Palisades is handling the Carrey listing. Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency has the Grazer listing.
