Jimmy Choo Co-Founder Tamara Mellon Says She's Engaged to Michael Ovitz
"In December, he surprised me with a beautiful ring," Mellon says of her boyfriend of four years.
Jimmy Choo co-founder Tamara Mellon and Michael Ovitz are engaged.
Designer Mellon told the U.K.'s Hello! magazine that the CAA co-founder and former Walt Disney Co. president asked for her hand in marriage after they'd been together for four years.
"In December, he surprised me with a beautiful ring," Mellon said. "It wasn't entirely out of the blue because he kept saying, 'I've got something really important for you.' He first asked me to move in with him over a year ago, then I suppose he wanted to show his commitment."
She added that the couple are looking to build a home in New York.
"It's a long-term project — we're going to knock the whole building down and start again," she said. "We're really excited to have a project to work on together."
Ovitz, 68, also founded Artists Management Group and now acts as a private investor and philanthropist. He has three grown children with ex-wife Judy Reich, including fashion designer Kimberly Ovitz.
Mellon, 47, has a daughter, Araminta, with ex-husband Matthew Mellon. She stepped down from her role at Jimmy Choo in November 2011 after the brand was acquired by Labelux and two years later launched her own eponymous line.
