Cover Art Released for J.K. Rowling's Upcoming Non-Potter Novel
The jacket for "The Casual Vacancy," the author's first work for adults, nods to the book's election storyline.
Publishers have released the cover art for J.K. Rowling's new, non-Harry Potter novel, The Casual Vacancy, which hits shelves September 27.
The novel is Rowling's first aimed for an adult audience, and its cover shows only a marked ballot.

Vacancy centers around the unexpected death of a resident in the fictional English town of Pagford, which seems idyllic but is fraught with social tensions. The dead resident had held a seat on the parish council -- hence the ballot -- and his death kicks off "an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations," according to publisher Little, Brown.
The novel is 512 pages -- no Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, but plenty to keep Rowling fans burning the midnight oil.
