J.K. Rowling's 'The Casual Vacancy': First Look at the TV Adaptation
Keeley Hawes and Julia McKenzie are seen in the first image from the BBC and HBO co-production
The BBC and HBO have been working on bringing Harry Potter writer J.K. Rowling's The Casual Vacancy to TV screens. Now the BBC has released a peek.
The author's first adult novel will air as a three-hour miniseries.
The photo shows Keeley Hawes and Julia McKenzie as Samantha Mollison and her mother-in-law, Shirley Mollison, at a social event. The image teases the tension between the characters.
Harry Potter actor Michael Gambon plays Shirley's husband in the series. Rowling is serving as an executive producer on the TV adaptation of her social satire set in a small town.
Ben Stephenson, controller of BBC drama commissioning, recently told THR about the show: "I have seen episodes one and two, and it is brilliant."
