Joe Scarborough Says He Met With Trump, but Not at NYE Party
The MSNBC host engaged in a Twitter back-and-forth with reporters who posted photos of Scarborough at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough says he was at President-elect Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida during a New Year's Eve party to talk to Trump, but didn't attend the festivities.
Over the weekend, the former Republican congressman battled on Twitter with reporters who said he attended the party. A photo shows him standing with Trump near revelers.
Scarborough said Tuesday on Morning Joe that he talked to Trump for about 15 minutes, but "away from the party."
He said in a series of tweets Sunday that the photo was taken at a spot the U.S. Secret Service directed him to ahead of his meeting with Trump, in which they discussed a possible interview.
He said he and co-host Mika Brzezinski were at the estate about 7 p.m. and left before "any 'partying' began."

Several reporters said you should've called to confirm I was a "reveler" at a party I did not attend, was not invited to & not dressed for. https://t.co/OZXRI7HyKg— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) January 2, 2017
More: Maggie Haberman did not try to contact me before putting me in a story saying I was a "reveler" at Trump's NYE party. I was not. https://t.co/8AxPlkjZpH— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) January 2, 2017
