The show will air live on CBS on Jan. 18.

Joel McHale is set to host the 2017 People's Choice Awards, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

McHale currently stars on the CBS comedy The Great Indoors, which last month received a full-season order from the network.

Like his series, the People's Choice Awards will air on CBS.

The awards show — celebrating fan favorites in movies, TV, music and digital — will air live from the Microsoft Theater in L.A. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 9 p.m. ET (tape-delayed PT).

“The people have spoken, and they want Jimmy Kimmel to host the 2017 Oscars! And the people have also spoken, and said that it would be okay if I hosted the 2017 People's Choice Awards. Well, one person said that. Luckily, that person was Les Moonves, so no one questioned it,” McHale said Monday in a statement.

Added PCA executive producer Mark Burnett, "Joel is a brilliant comedic talent, and the perfect host for this show. He is a triple threat. An actor; a writer and a performer, and we look forward to him bringing all of those amazing talents to People's Choice Awards 2017.”

McHale previously hosted the 2015 ESPY Awards and the 2014 White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Going into this year's People's Choice Awards, Captain America: Civil War is the most-nominated movie, with seven nominations; Grey's Anatomy is the most nominated TV show, with five mentions; Drake and Rihanna are each up for four noms; and Ellen DeGeneres, nominated in three categories, could make history as she's one win away from becoming the most-decorated People's Choice Award winner ever.
