John Nuzzi, Veteran Marketing Executive, Dies at 49
He worked at Fox, ABC and most recently for the media firms Initiative and Carat.
John Nuzzi, a veteran marketing executive at Fox and ABC, died Wednesday at his home in Sherman Oaks after a long battle with cancer, his husband, Jeff Troyer, said. He was 49.
Nuzzi since January 2015 led the Santa Monica office of the global media network Carat as managing director.
A native of Santa Clarita, Calif., Nuzzi attended Georgetown University and began his career as a sales assistant at Katz Media Group and as a media planner at the Shalek Agency.
Nuzzi then worked at Fox from 1990-98, where he led marketing efforts for affiliation switches and helped the network promote such shows as The Simpsons, Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place and The X-Files.
Nuzzi spent the next eight years at ABC as vp affiliate marketing and then another eight as managing director, West Coast & entertainment, at the media strategy and investment agency Initiative.
