John Restall Joins Sony as Executive VP Domestic Marketing Research

John Restall is joining Sony Pictures as executive vp domestic marketing research. He will report to Dwight Caines, who announced the appointment Monday, and will oversee all domestic theatrical market research efforts for the studio’s marketing department. In that role, he is expecting to collaborate closely with his international research counterparts, who report to Michael Horn, president of international marketing for the studio.

Restall joins Sony from research firm Nielsen NRG, where, as senior vp client consulting, he served as the lead account representative for several of the firm’s studio clients, overseeing the design, analysis and management of ad testing, tracking, screenings, positioning studies, brand studies, exit polls and focus groups. An attorney by training, Restall previously served in research analysis at MarketCast.
