John Short Joins Epic Pictures Group as VP International Sales
Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson's company will debut its newest film, "Big Ass Spider!," at the SXSW Film Festival.
As it expands its film production and finance operations, Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson’s Epic Pictures Group has hired John Short as vp international sales. While Ewald and Berenson will focus on original productions, Short will oversee day-to-day operations of the company’s foreign sales business.
Short’s first order of business will be attending Hong Kong’s upcoming Filmart this month, followed by the Cannes Film Market in May. He recently served as vp international sales for Hyde Park Entertainment and prior to that served as vp of YFG International.
“John’s business acumen and extensive relationships with international buyers is a perfect complement to our team," Ewald and Berenson jointly commented. "We look forward to working with him as we continue to expand our original production slate and sales operations over the next eighteen months.”
Epic’s Big Ass Spider! will have its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 11. Ewald and Berenson financed and produced the film, which was directed by Mike Mendez and stars Greg Grunberg. Klaus Von Sayn-Wittgenstein of Wittgenstein Entertainment produced and co-financed with Epic. The Beverly Hills-based company also recently executive produced Vikingdom, starring Dominic Purcell, Craig Fairbrass, Jon Foo and Natassia Malthe; acquired the horror anthology V/H/S at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival; and co-executive produced Mall, a collaboration with multiplatinum and Grammy Award-winning band Linkin Park.
