Jon Amiel to direct 'Old Timers'

Comedy based on a play by Noah Haidle

Jon Amiel will direct a comedy with the working title "Old Timers" for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.

The project written by playwright Noah Haidle centers on two retired hit men who enjoy a night living it up before one of them faces a deadly decision.

Sidney Kimmel is producing, with Jim Tauber and Bingham Ray executive producing. The filmmakers are out to talent and hope to begin filming by year's end.

SKE recently wrapped production on the remake of the British comedy "Death at a Funeral," co-written and co-produced by Chris Rock. The company recently partnered with A Bigger Boat, GreeneStreet Films and Uppity Films for an adaptation of "Mixed Blood" to be directed by Phillip Noyce.

Amiel has "Creation," a Charles Darwin romancer starring Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany, in the can. The helmer -- whose credits include "Entrapment," which starred Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones; "The Man Who Knew Too Little," with Bill Murray; and "The Core," with Aaron Eckhart -- has most recently been directing episodes of Showtime's "The Tudors."

He is repped by UTA and Sleeping Giant Entertainment.
