Get a first taste of the writer/director/star's upcoming culinary road movie, with an A-list supporting cast including Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Sofia Vergara and Dustin Hoffman.

A first taste of Jon Favreau's return to laid-back, small-scale dramatic comedy, Chef, was released online late Monday.

The trailer for the writer/director/star's upcoming culinary feature will make for uncomfortable viewing for those on an empty stomach -- the two-and-a-half-minute preview is full of sizzling, slicing and characters biting and groaning in gustatory pleasure.

The movie follows a divorced Los Angeles chef who quits his job in order to explore America in search of his culinary mojo.

Despite an A-list cast including Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Sofia Vergara and Dustin Hoffman, when the film made its premiere at South by Southwest Favreau said the film is his return to Swingers-style filmmaking.

The buzz at SXSW was mostly positive. The film opens in the U.S. on May 9, Mother’s Day weekend.
