Jon Jashni Named President of Legendary Entertainment

The exec has been with the company behind "Dark Knight" and "The Hangover" for nearly six years, and will continue to hold the post of chief creative officer.
Legendary Entertainment has promoted Jon Jashni to the newly created role of president.
Jashni, who’s been with the company for almost six years, will continue to hold the post of chief creative officer and continue to report to Legendary chairman and CEO Thomas Tull.
But the move comes as Legendary, who is best known for partnering with Warners on movies ranging from The Dark Knight to The Town to The Hangover, begins a multi-tiered expansion. It is in pre-production on its first wholly-developed project, Pacific Rim, created a standalone division based in Beijing and Hong Kong named Legendary East, and unveiled Legendary Comics.
On top of overseeing Legendary Pictures’ slate, Jashni will be deeper involved in business affairs and physical production activities not just for the film arm but also in Legendary Television and to a lesser capacity Legendary Comics. He will also work on “strategic planning and brand marketing teams on the company's integrated growth strategy,” according to the company.
Additionally, Jashni will join the board of Legendary East.
“As a trusted and exemplary member of Legendary’s executive team for almost six years, we have every confidence that Jon will excel in this new leadership role,” said Tull in a statement.
Before joining Legendary, Jashni acted as president of Hyde Park Entertainment and was a senior production exec at 20th Century Fox.
